About us
As an institutional member of the European Association of Tissue Banks (EATB), BgATB supports the mission and the standards of the EATB and ensures that all of its members are in compliance with these standards.
BgATB was founded on October 1, 2004 as a scientific, nongovernmental, non-profit, peer group organization uniting transplant physicians and other broad spectrum professional groups, as well as public figures with contributions to the development of the Bulgarian national tissue banking system.
The inauguration ceremony took place during the First Annual Congress of the Bulgarian Association of Tissue Banks held at the Royal Palace hotel located at the Golden Sands Resort on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
Among the first goals embraced by the association was to seek avenues to improve the collaboration between the tissue banking organizations and the executive and legislative branches of power in order to set up national standards in tissue banking that meet the requirements of the European Directive (2004-23-EC) and the international safety and medical standards.
The Second Annual Congress of the Bulgarian Association of Tissue Banks is tentatively scheduled to take place from October 1 through October 3, 2005 at the Royal Palace Hotel on the Black Sea resort of Golden Sands.
